BACKHAND ZINE

While photographing an commission job for a local music venue I came across this punk band called Backhand. I loved their energy and theatric presence, so I decided to make an experimental typography zine about them. 

I focused the story to be about the relationship between the band and the crowd in this captivating performance. I designed the type to not explicitly tell the viewer what it was like being there, but to show them. 

Throughout the sixteen page zine I used type in an unconventional style to connect the words to the brand of the band and make the book feel like the concert.

All photos used in the zine were taking by Kolton Cannon during The Basements, The Grounds 2022, music venue.
